About

Lissa Jaye Makeup Artistry is run by Melissa Jaye Holdway and she is a professional freelance makeup artist. She has a Certificate in Makeup Services and has been working in the luxury skincare and cosmetic field for 2.2 years, 1.7 year of that as a Counter Manager.

Melissa has also had the opportunities of which she is very appreciative of, was being part of the leadership team as Lead Makeup Artist for charity event Worth its Weight in Gold. For promoting awarenes for eating disorder and body image, all funds raised went Women's Healthworks: The Body Esteem Program. Another charity event Melissa was lead makeup artist for was Sew Blue, raising awareness and funds for Depression, with all funds donated to Beyond Blue charity organisation. Melissa has also been part of a photographic fundraiser bOObs for Breast Cancer, fundraising for Breast Cancer Research.

Since Melissa was young, she had been into creative arts. In primary school she found her creativity excelled, creating pieces she is still proud and fond of today, one item even winning an award. Through high school she found her creativity wavered a little and found herself enjoying graphic design. Though creativity was not fostered in high school and Melissa saw herself losing enjoyment in something she once loved.  From there she moved to the social work sector, aspiring to become a psychologist. After a couple of years studying psychology Melissa took a break.

In search for what truly inspired her, she decided to enrol in a Makeup certificate.  Throughout the course Melissa found her inspirations climbing and creativity rekindled.
Melissa wanted to create a makeup business with a difference. Although she loves the beauty and the versatility of makeup, she wanted to avoid the superficiality of the makeup business and bring focus to the graceful side of makeup. Melissa wants to create meaningfulness to the makeup industry, that is, using makeup to enhance the natural beauty every person has.

"Remember you are a pearl" ©

“ As I have grown up I have not always felt beautiful. We see images of women portrayed as ‘perfect’ and we begin to absorb these messages of what a woman is perceived to be. Each woman is unique and represents beauty in her own way.”  ©

“A pearl can take many years to reach its ‘peak’. For each woman she will reach her most beautiful stage in life at different times. This is representative of a woman in her high point of her career, when they are starting a family, or even physical beauty. Just like the women of the world, pearls come in many shapes, sizes and colours and all have their own beauty to offer. Did you know that the size of a pearl depends on the layers of ‘nacre’ which form over a single grain of sand, beauty is not only on the outside but also on the inside.”  ©
